As my technique continued to develop I introduced some direct painting. I began to play with the contrast between the transparent quality of the wipeout technique and the opaque quality of direct painting techniques and of glazing. This is seen in"Arabesque" where the background is transparent and the grapevines painted in the middle ground are semi-transparent and the lily in the foreground is painted opaquely and enhanced with glazes.
